2021 Ohio Pre-GRP Fellowship Awardees
Diana Bolton, University of Cincinnati
Diana is a second-year student in the School of Planning pursuing a Master of Landscape Architecture and certificates in Permaculture Design and Green Roofs. She has always been passionate about urban sustainability and resilience, and green infrastructure is her vehicle to bring about the changes cities need to reduce their contributions to climate change.
Anna Droz, Kent State University
Anna is an ecology PhD candidate and studies the ecology of green roofs in the Midwest, particularly the microbiology, substrate, and plant dynamics. She also consults for a Cleveland green roof company called Rooftop Green, which specializes in installing and maintaining modular tray style roofing.
Garrett Krueger, University of Cincinnati
Garrett is a 3rd year undergrad student studying architecture. The program emphasizes environmentally conscious design strategies and a knowledge or our profession’s impact on the world. He is also interested in living architecture and is working toward a certificate in green roofing as well.
Maddi Nuss, University of Cincinnati
Maddi is in her last year of undergrad for Architecture and will be continuing her studies in Landscape Architecture for her graduate degree. She is really interested in green roofing and sustainable landscaping and is pursuing degrees in those fields as well. She wants to educate and further the development of sustainable living and architecture as her career and life goal.
Alyssa Skilton, Kent State University
Alyssa is in the Msc in Architecture and Environmental Design program with a Bsc in Conservation Biology. She is exploring the success of rare and native plants on vegetative roofs and is interested in the possibilities of implementing conservation efforts with the use of vegetative roofs. Alyssa aims to advocate for the use of native plants and to encourage ecological responsibility.
Laura Wimer, Ohio University
Laura is currently a senior studying applied plant biology major paired with communication studies minor. Some of her passions are greenhouses, conservatories, landscape design and green infrastructure. One of her goals is to work with native plants to help show off their natural beauty.
